Current Call

The 2026 eucen Autumn Seminar and the European Journal of University Lifelong Learning (EJULL) invite contributions exploring the evolving role of universities in lifelong learning (ULLL).

This year’s theme, “The Two Faces of ULLL: Employability and Social Mission“, examines how universities can respond to skills needs and labour market demands while continuing to promote inclusion, social cohesion, democratic participation, and sustainable development.

The Call offers two participation Tracks:

  • Contributions related to the seminar theme and the balance between employability and the social mission of universities.
  • We welcome abstracts submitted via this Form only until 15 October 2026.
  • Authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to present their work during the 2026 eucen Autumn Seminar in Barcelona. The Scientific Committee will determine the most appropriate presentation format for each contribution, which may include an oral presentation, a poster presentation, or inclusion of the work in the static poster exhibition.
  • Only authors who have registered for the Seminar by 30 October 2026 will be eligible to present their work – link to the registration form.
  • Contributions on any aspect of University Lifelong Learning, providing a platform for sharing research, policy developments, institutional strategies, projects, and innovative practices from across the wider ULLL field.
  • Full papers should be submitted directly to journals@eucen.eu by 15 December 2026.
  • We welcome submissions from researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and institutional leaders.
  • Authors wishing to publish a full paper (from either Track A or Track B) should ensure that their manuscript follows the EJULL Guide and the House Style.
  • Publication of accepted papers is planned for July 2027.

The Conference Scientific Committee is responsible for the selection of the submitted abstracts. If you have a work that you feel will be perfect for this topic, you can already submit your abstract using this online form.

  • Abstracts are to be proposed and submitted by one person, who will be identified by eucen as “main contact author”.
  • Only up to three other people can be named as co-authors in the abstract proposal.
  • For each participant, a maximum of two proposals, in which the person is named as an author or co-author, may be submitted.
  • All authors part of the presentation must register for the seminar.
  • Accepted abstracts will be listed at the events’ website once the author(s) has registered.
  • At least one of the authors must register for the 2026 eucen Autumn Seminar. Works from authors not registered will be removed from the list of presenters in the website after 30 October 2026.
  • Deadline to send abstracts – 15 October 2026.
